Disclaimer: I had no idea when I wrote my last post, that God would solidify this truth in such a sweet way.
As I was leaving the bead store with my roommate Maggie, who loves to make all sorts of fun jewelry, I mentioned that I had at least some desire to go to Living Word Ministries tonight. Little did I know that Maggie had been pondering the exact same thing. We decided to get dinner and go to Living Word.
Dinner was quite the adventure. We went to several places before finding somewhere. The first was an Italian restaurant that we were referred to by a friend. Much to our disappointment, the place was closed at 6:30 pm on a Saturday. As we neared the door of the next place, we realized that there no affordable items on the menu. Just as we almost settled on a little tiny diner, we noticed another Italian restaurant. We were served very tasty salads as we waited for our food.
An hour later, we were still waiting for our food. We finally decided that when we received our food, we would need to take it to go. I mean, there’s nothing wrong with eating in church, right?
So we took our food to Living Word Ministries. As we walked in, I realized it was Jeremiah 33:3 night- a night during which prophetic teams are placed together to seek the Father’s heart for His children. The Holy Spirit was heavy in the place. Let me just tell you, it was saucy.
When it was time for prophetic teams, I eagerly received my number and waited in line. I have to be honest and say that for some reason I did not feel like I was going to hear anything from God tonight.
He loves to prove me wrong.
As I walked in the room, the first thing I heard from a man on the team was, “As soon as I saw you I heard God say that you have a high level of authority that you need to claim and walk in.”
This was huge, as I am learning all about boundaries, when to say no, how to say no, and how to stand up for what I believe in. I have struggled immensely with allowing myself to walk in the authority that I know without doubt God has given me.
A few moments later, the man began to laugh. I immediately knew that He heard something good. These were His words:
I saw you with a teaspoon. You said, “okay God, I am ready!” God responded, “um, you’re gonna need a bigger spoon.” You exchanged your teaspoon for a tablespoon and said, “okay God, now I’m ready.” “Laura, you’re going to need a bigger spoon,” He said in response to your exchange. So you kept exchanging your spoon for the next bigger spoon, and God kept saying the same thing. Finally you had a spoon that was the size of a serving spoon in a cafeteria. God smiled and said, “Okay. Now you are at least starting to understand. You are still going to need a bigger spoon.”
After experiencing this exchange, I heard God say that He wants you to start expecting greater portions. He wants you to believe that what He is going to serve you is going to be huge. He wants you to come to Him expectantly, with a spoon large enough to hold the fulness of the kingdom.
I cannot begin to explain to you how this word made my spirit feel. It was just so sweet of the Holy Spirit to step in and allow me to receive such a sweet message from the Father’s heart.
That is the Kingdom. Fullness is for me. His abundance is for me. He entire love is for me. My inheritance is large.
Looks like I need to get a bigger spoon.
