Sweet Friends and Family-
First, I want to apologize for not updating any sooner. Internet connection is a feat only for those who are willing to take many hours out of their day.. leave base.. and venture into town with hopes that the internet will work and that you have not wasted your money. I felt the Lord saying that I was here for Him, and that my heart should be fully here, in Pemba. Many students do take time out of their week to go to the internet multiple times, but I felt God say that wasn’t for me. I do, however, long to be in communication with each one of you, all the time. Seriously, if I could talk each of you every day, I would be so happy!!!
Second.. I want to say THANKS! THANKS!! THANKS!!! Thanks so much to everyone who supported me in order to make this journey possible. I am eternally grateful. You have sown into the kingdom in a mighty and powerful way, and the fruit that is coming is not just for me, but for you as well. I am so very sorry that I have not given you more of an update. Please, please know that I thank God every day for your willingness to sow into my journey. You have such a terrific place in my heart.
FINALLY, time for an update!!! Seriously, y’all, this has been one of the craziest, wildest rides of my life. It started out with a dog bite in the face, just three days before I left, that resulted in twenty-one stitches and a mass of tears. The Lord definitely had a different journey in mind than what I had planned in my mind.
You see, I could have just come, been the happy and joyful lush, and spent most of time thrashing on the floor in the glory of the Holy Spirit. God wanted more depth for me. He wanted to bring me to a place where wounds are always brought to the surface and pain is healed with truth in love. He wanted me to stop avoiding the deep issues of my heart, and to allow Him to truly heal me once and for all.
I honestly don’t think I would have taken that journey had I not experienced such trauma immediately before I left.
My journey here was long..longggg..lonnngggg. I traveled 74 hours to get here!!! As soon as I set foot on base at Iris, the children stole my heart!!! They are just so precious! Hundreds of them just run at you and jump on you and beg you to hold them!!! It’s incredible!!!
I met many other amazing people that first day. My roommates are incredible.. we are so different but God is so crafty.. We mesh in the most perfect and divine way. It seems like every house is like that, but I am pretty certain that my house the best one here 🙂
On top of meeting tons of amazing people from all over the world that are students here, we have had some incredible speakers come and sow into our lives on a very up close and personal level. Jackie Pullinger, Mel Tari, Bill Johnson, Stacey Campbell and Patricia Butsmah are just a few that I can think of right now. Heidi teaches us twice a week, and on the says she doesn’t teach, Papa Rolland teaches us. Needless to say, we are being fed by the best of the best.
Worship services are almost always happening. If they aren’t planned, the students make them happen. We just came out of a 24/7 worship and prayer week, and that was amazing!!! God showed me so many things and opened my eyes to loads of truth that can only come from Him!!!!
On July 1st I went on an outreach to the bush bush for three days. It was the most incredible time of my life!!! I just felt so alive and so centered in God’s purpose for my life!!! My color group had the privilege to go into an entirely unreached village and share the gospel with them for the very first time. It wasn’t until halfway through our time there that we found out we were in a cannibal village. No big. We saw eight deaf people and two blind people completely healed while we were there!!! I was so blessed to have been used by God to pray for a blind boy, about eight years old, that was completely healed!!! (It is an amazing story that I would LOVE to share, but I need to write that out first before I am online, so that I can just upload it!!! Get ready!!!) We also saw at least fifty people give their lives to Christ!!! It was just so amazing!!
I got back on base just in time for my 21st birthday! My roomies made a sign for me that said “Prophesy over me, it’s my birthday!” I totally wore it all day and many of the world’d top leaders that I mentioned earlier prayed over me on my birthday!!! It was an incredible 21st!!
This is a very short overview of some of my experience, but I do want to share more!!!! Hopefully I can type up some of the incredible stories and have them ready to upload!!!! If any of you really want to know more details, you can message Maggie Britt or John Fitch on facebook, as they both have been calling me to get updates and cheer me on!!!!
I love all of you and I am sending you some glory!
ps… I just tried to upload a picture… but I waited twenty minutes and it had only uploaded 24%… This is Africa 🙂
SORRY FOR TYPOS!!!!
