…a formal declaration of gratitude to those who loved so well.
To anyone who was a part of my life in 2013, but dedicated especially to those who took part in OperationLaura:
At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have rekindled the flame within us. – Albert Schweitzer
Yesteryear was one of deep pain. The days were short and the nights were long. It was a year of my light growing dim, my inner flame burning out. It was a year of stress and heartache.
Yesteryear was also a year of true love. It was the year that I met love face to face, from beginning to end. It was the year that I saw true love in action. It was the year of surrender and the year of humility.
Today, I can look back on 365 days of juxtaposed experiences and emotions, with a smile on my face, and say thank you.
Today, I choose gratitude.
Whoever you are, wherever you are, and whatever role you played in my life, thank you.
I am truly thankful for it all. I am thankful for every misunderstanding and every conflict. I am thankful for every mistake. I am thankful for every bit of brokenness and I am thankful for every single time I was humbled with my face in the ground. I am thankful for the pain of sin and its consequences. I am thankful for the sickness I faced, and even more thankful for healing. I am thankful for lessons learned through the necessity of rest. Most of all, I am thankful for every single relationship held within those 365 days.
Whether in person or through social media, I feel a sense of intimacy with so many. Whether the outcome was positive or negative, I was transformed by every interaction. Whether the purpose was to help my heart or help my brain, I was abundantly blessed. However you know me and chose to be a part of my journey, I am thankful. Whether it was intended or not, you changed my life for the better.
Two words are not enough, but a picture is worth a thousand. Here are few (worth a few thousand words) to express my gratitude. Each one is full of love and happiness that you contributed to. Thank you for being a part of the rekindling of the flame in my heart.
